To develop custom T-shirts for your brand, define the fabric, garment measurements and decoration requirements before requesting a quotation. Approve a sample that represents those specifications, then agree on how the factory will check the bulk order.
This guide explains the information to prepare, the sample checks to make and the order terms to confirm when sourcing custom T-shirt production.
What to send before requesting a quotation
- Design drawings, reference images or a technical pack.
- Fabric requirements or a physical material reference.
- Garment measurements, size range and quantity by size.
- Number of designs, colors and pieces per color.
- Artwork and requirements for logos, labels or packaging.
- Delivery destination and target delivery date.
If some details are undecided, identify them in your inquiry. Ask the manufacturer to list quotation assumptions and any development fees. This makes it easier to compare quotations and avoids treating an early estimate as a final production price.
Specify fabric composition, weight and feel
Fabric composition and weight influence the appearance and comfort of a T-shirt. Describe the intended use and feel rather than selecting a material solely because it appears popular. If you have a fabric or garment reference, send it for comparison.
GSM means grams per square meter: it describes fabric weight, not a complete measure of quality. Two fabrics with the same GSM may differ in yarn, knit structure, finish and behavior after washing. Ask which material options are available for your quantity and confirm the final choice in writing.
Define your fit with garment measurements
Terms such as oversized, relaxed and regular fit can mean different things to different suppliers. Provide chest width, body length, shoulder width, sleeve length and neckline requirements. Include a measurement method and agree tolerances.
Inspect the neck rib, seam finish and overall balance. Review a sample after care according to the intended label instructions, checking measurements, twisting and the appearance of the neckline. Agree on suitable testing where you need formal results.
Review decoration on the intended fabric
Share the artwork, dimensions, placement and desired finish for any logo or decoration. Ask the factory to recommend a suitable method and confirm availability and costs. Do not assume all printing or embroidery methods suit every fabric or a 50-piece order.
Approve the decoration on a physical sample when it matters to the design. Inspect color, placement, hand feel and appearance after the agreed care procedure.
Understand a 50-piece MOQ correctly
YIMAN’s minimum order quantity is 50 pieces per design, per color, with mixed sizes allowed. One design in two colors requires at least 100 pieces. Two designs in two colors each require at least 200 pieces.
You can distribute the quantity within each design and color across sizes. Confirm your size breakdown before placing the order. Ask whether your selected custom fabric, trims or decoration has additional minimums or costs.
Approve samples and confirm the production schedule
Sample development and bulk production schedules are confirmed for each project after reviewing the design, materials, quantities and revisions. Agree whether the schedule uses working or calendar days and what starts each period. Confirm shipping time separately before committing to a delivery date.
- Agree the design brief, material choices and quotation assumptions.
- Develop the sample and document requested changes.
- Approve the final sample and written specifications.
- Confirm quantities, payment terms, quality requirements and timing.
- Arrange production checks and delivery according to the agreed order terms.
Keep an approved reference sample. Ask whether it uses the intended bulk materials and identify any substitutions. Agree acceptable measurement tolerances and how discrepancies will be handled; a sample alone does not guarantee the whole order.
Compare the full cost of your order
Ask which costs are included: sampling, pattern development, materials, decoration, labels, packaging, inspections and freight. Confirm the currency, quote validity, payment milestones and delivery terms. Compare suppliers using the same specifications and quantities.
Discuss reorder conditions too. Material availability, minimum quantities and the need for a new sample can affect a later order. Keeping a complete approved specification helps both teams communicate consistently.
