A custom hoodie project needs more than a logo and a reference image. Define the fabric, silhouette, hood, pocket and trim details so a manufacturer can quote the actual garment you want. Use sampling to check those decisions before placing a bulk order.
This guide explains the information to prepare, the sample checks to make and the order terms to confirm when sourcing custom hoodie production.
What to send before requesting a quotation
- Design drawings, reference images or a technical pack.
- Fabric requirements or a physical material reference.
- Garment measurements, size range and quantity by size.
- Number of designs, colors and pieces per color.
- Artwork and requirements for logos, labels or packaging.
- Delivery destination and target delivery date.
If some details are undecided, identify them in your inquiry. Ask the manufacturer to list quotation assumptions and any development fees. This makes it easier to compare quotations and avoids treating an early estimate as a final production price.
Compare fabric options using physical references
French terry generally has loops on the reverse, while brushed fleece has a raised inner surface. The right choice depends on the feel, weight and use you want for the garment. Ask which options are available for your order and compare swatches or samples.
Specify composition and GSM, but also evaluate thickness, drape, recovery and care performance. A heavier fabric alone does not guarantee better quality or the right fit. If the material must match an existing garment, send a reference and agree how close the match needs to be.
Define the silhouette, hood and trims
Provide chest width, body length, shoulder width and sleeve measurements. Explain whether you want a dropped shoulder or a more conventional silhouette. Check the hood shape and volume, neckline comfort and pocket proportions on the sample.
Agree cuff and hem rib specifications, drawcord details and any zipper requirements. Inspect how the rib recovers after stretching and how the trims work with the garment. Confirm any additional requirements for the intended market and wearer before approving the design.
Approve artwork and placement before production
For branded hoodies, share artwork files, decoration dimensions and placement measurements. Ask which decoration methods suit the chosen fabric and design. Large or dense decoration can affect how a garment feels and hangs, so inspect the physical sample rather than relying only on a digital mockup.
Check alignment around pockets, seams and zippers. Keep the final approved artwork and placement instructions together with the garment specification.
Understand a 50-piece MOQ correctly
YIMAN’s minimum order quantity is 50 pieces per design, per color, with mixed sizes allowed. One design in two colors requires at least 100 pieces. Two designs in two colors each require at least 200 pieces.
You can distribute the quantity within each design and color across sizes. Confirm your size breakdown before placing the order. Ask whether your selected custom fabric, trims or decoration has additional minimums or costs.
Approve samples and confirm the production schedule
Sample development and bulk production schedules are confirmed for each project after reviewing the design, materials, quantities and revisions. Agree whether the schedule uses working or calendar days and what starts each period. Confirm shipping time separately before committing to a delivery date.
- Agree the design brief, material choices and quotation assumptions.
- Develop the sample and document requested changes.
- Approve the final sample and written specifications.
- Confirm quantities, payment terms, quality requirements and timing.
- Arrange production checks and delivery according to the agreed order terms.
Keep an approved reference sample. Ask whether it uses the intended bulk materials and identify any substitutions. Agree acceptable measurement tolerances and how discrepancies will be handled; a sample alone does not guarantee the whole order.
Compare the full cost of your order
Ask which costs are included: sampling, pattern development, materials, decoration, labels, packaging, inspections and freight. Confirm the currency, quote validity, payment milestones and delivery terms. Compare suppliers using the same specifications and quantities.
Discuss reorder conditions too. Material availability, minimum quantities and the need for a new sample can affect a later order. Keeping a complete approved specification helps both teams communicate consistently.
